FLIC leaders honored as 2009 Women in Business

WORCESTER _ The Female Leadership Interest Council (FLIC®) has two 2009 Women in Business honorees in its midst. Deborah Penta, founder of FLIC® and CEO of PENTA Communications, Inc. in Westborough and Kathryn "Kathy" Zingg Hunter, president and CEO of the YMCA of Central Massachusetts, Worcester and a FLIC® Advisory Board member, were each honored at the recent Worcester Business Journal’s (WBJ) 2009 Women in Business Awards.

A total of six honorees were chosen out of a group of over 75 nominations by a panel of judges. Along with Penta and Hunter, the other honorees included: Frances Anthes, president and CEO of the Family Health Center of Worcester; Patricia Jones, founder of P.L. Jones & Associates PC, of Worcester; Cynthia Normandin, vice president of Braun’s Express Inc., Hopedale, and Karen Wall, senior vice president Global Infrastructure Services, Akibia, Westborough.

"The Worcester Business Journal is very proud to have brought together this group of six female business leaders, including Deborah Penta and Kathryn Zingg Hunter," said Christina H. Davis, editor of the WBJ. "All six are great role models for current and future leaders within the local business community. Their leadership skills, combined with their commitment to giving back, are true examples to be emulated."

"As a judge reviewing nominations for the Women in Business Awards from the Worcester Business Journal, I was impressed not only by the outstanding leadership skills that Deborah and Kathy have brought to their careers, but also the fact that they bring these talents and skills to the benefit of the community as a whole, not just their individual company and business," said Allison Lane, Esq. of Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, P.C.

FLIC® is a non-profit organization founded on the principles of female leadership, mentoring and the belief that when you can help someone else succeed, you personally grow and prosper. The Council’s mission is to provide educational instruction to women to assist in developing their capabilities in the business world, which will increase the likelihood that their successes will benefit the community.
